Our Story

SonicCast was launched in spring 2018 by Andreas Korkolis, a former state-radio music producer, and Maria Patelis, a documentary editor who cut her teeth at Mega and ERT. The two met at a panel on independent radio at Onassis Stegi in 2016 and spent eighteen months sketching a network on the back of paper coasters at Bel Ray in Petralona. The first studio was a converted record warehouse on Iera Odos in Gazi — bare brick walls, two sE Electronics microphones, a Universal Audio Apollo interface, and a kettle that has not been replaced since. The first show, The Loud Room, recorded its pilot on a Saturday afternoon while a wedding band rehearsed next door — the bleed is still audible in episode one and is now a running joke in the credits.
