We record in front of an audience at Romantso. A hundred and twenty chairs, no green room, one break, and everything that happens in the room ends up in the episode.

How a night runs

From the door to the last take.

  1. 01Doors, 30 minutes early. Take a seat, take a drink. The room fills from the front, and the front is where you want to be.
  2. 02The light goes on. From that point the door stays shut until the break. Latecomers wait in the bar — it is not strictness, it is the room mic.
  3. 03One conversation, no script. There is a running order and it usually survives about twenty minutes. Nothing is asked twice for the tape.
  4. 04A break, roughly halfway. Fifteen minutes. This is when guests say the thing they should have said on air, and sometimes we ask them to say it again.
  5. 05The last take. We stop when the conversation stops. Some nights that is ninety minutes, some nights it is two hours.
  6. 06It goes out on Sunday. Edited for sense, not for polish. You will hear yourself laugh.
